Not exactly the overnight success that some in the media had pegged her, Emily Blunt worked steadily for several years. She made her stage debut in 2001, however, opposite Dame Judi Dench in The Royal Family when she was just 18, which by all accounts isn't a bad place to start.

Although Emily Blunt devoted her adolescence to a sundry of other endeavors, including horseback riding, singing and playing the cello, it didn’t take her long to realize that her future was in the world of acting. Her early days were spent perfecting her craft on the London stage, and in 2003, Emily successfully auditioned for a starring role in a British TV film called Boudica.

She spent the next year appearing in various movies and television shows, but it wasn’t until she was cast in 2004’s My Summer of Love that Emily Blunt finally began to gain some recognition outside of her homeland. The film played at several film festivals and opened Hollywood doors for Emily. In 2006, Emily Blunt landed the role of her career after she was chosen to star opposite heavyweights Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada. Her scene-stealing work in that film was singled out in many reviews, and Emily soon found herself in the sort of demand that most young actors dream of.
Dispelling any myths that Emily Blunt was a flash-in-the-pan sensation, she earned her keep in 2007 by accepting roles in Wind Chill, Dan in Real Life with Juliette Binoche and Dane Cook and The Jane Austin Book Club with Maria Bello.

After accepting roles in 2008's The Great Buck Howard starring Tom Hanks and Sunshine Cleaning starring Amy Adams, Emily Blunt will appear in numerous 2009 flicks, including Wild Target, The Young Victoria, The Wolf Man, and the international film The Girl. It's also rumored she'll play a villain in the highly anticipated Iron Man 2.
She's involved with The Office's funnyman John Krasinski as well.
Also in 2009, Emily Blunt came in at No. 58 on AskMen.com's Top 99 Most Desirable Women list.
