Biography
Jade Raymond was born on August 28, 1975, in Montreal, Canada. Her formative years were spent at Marianopolis private college in downtown Montreal, and it was during her adolescence that she first discovered her passion for video games. Unlike her friends, however, Jade Raymond wasn’t content to simply play them -- she was determined to have a hand in their creation.To that end, Jade Raymond enrolled in McGill University’s computer science program and dedicated herself to learning as much as she could about the gaming industry. Her tenacity paid off, as her first post-college job was as a programmer for Sony, where she eventually played an instrumental role in the creation of Sony Online’s first Research and Development group. Her team was tasked with the responsibility of turning Sony Online into a premiere internet destination, which -- thanks to an emphasis on several Jeopardy! games -- became a reality within an almost unprecedented period of time.

Jade Raymond’s increasingly stellar reputation led to a gig at Electronic Arts as a producer on The Sims Online, and her innovative choices regarding the game’s features and designs contributed (and continue to contribute) directly to its enduring place as an internet phenomenon. Her increased notoriety brought her to the attention of executives at Ubisoft’s Montreal office, where she was quickly appointed the lead producer of the game Assassin’s Creed.The game, which boasts voice work from Kristen Bell as central character Altaïr, was hailed as “one of the finest gaming experiences ever created” by GamePro, and quickly became the “fastest-selling new video game intellectual property ever in the U.S.” according to Ubisoft. Assassin’s Creed has also found itself on the receiving end of several awards within the industry, with IGN bestowing such prestigious titles as Best Action Game, PS3 Best Game of the Show and Best PS3 Graphics at the 2006 E3 video game trade show.

Despite her impressive success within the gaming community, Jade Raymond didn’t become a household name until she agreed to join the G4 program The Electric Playground as a correspondent. Jade Raymond soon found herself working side by side with such familiar faces as Victor Lucas, Tommy Tallarico and Julie Stoffer, with her stint on the show bringing her face-to-face with video game industry colleagues and the fans who’ve supported her over the years.Jade Raymond has also managed to put her celebrity to work for an important social cause entitled LOVE, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending violence among youth in Canada. When she’s not working, Jade Raymond considers herself an avid gamer and boasts that she played Everquest for 10 hours a day in the three months after it came out.
