MONTREAL — “Silk,” the lush period drama starring Keira Knightley and Michael Pitt, was among the big winners at Quebec’s Jutra Awards on Sunday night.
The film - the first from director Francois Girard since 1998’s acclaimed “The Red Violin” - won awards for cinematography, art direction, costumes and sound. The Jutras honour the best in Quebec cinema.
“Continental: un film sans fusil” (”Continental: a Film Without Guns”) took home some of the night’s most coveted prizes, including the best picture award as well as best director and best screenplay trophies for Stephane Lafleur.
A quirky look at the intertwining lives of four people, “Continental” marked Lafleur’s feature-length directorial debut. It was also nominated for a best picture award at last week’s Genie Awards.
