AUSSIE pop princess Kylie Minogue and Socceroos star Harry Kewell have joined the elite group of Britain’s richest people.
While their personal wealth is dwarfed by the £27.7 billion ($57.8 billion) fortune of Indian-born steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal, who remains the wealthiest person in Britain according to the latest Sunday Times newspaper’s annual Rich List, they are still doing quite nicely.
Minogue’s fortune is estimated at £40 million ($83.46 million), securing her 1794th spot in the Rich List’s top 2000 earners.
“From her days as Charlene in the Australian soap Neighbours, when she was paid just £150 (now $313) per episode, Minogue, 39, has graduated to become one of the world’s richest female singers,” the newspaper said.
“Minogue’s finances are in good order. Her company, Darenote, paid her £1.8 million ($3.76 million) in 2006. With her tours and recordings, she is worth £40 million ($83.46 million).”
Kewell, who plays for English Premier League club Liverpool, clinched equal ninth spot in a list of the top earners in Britain aged under 30.
