Amy Winehouse confirmed for T In The Park

Amy Winehouse has confirmed she is to play T In The Park 2008, after cancelling her appearance at last year’s festival.

The singer will perform on the Main Stage on July 13 prior to sets by Kings of Leon and REM.

Festival organiser Geoff Ellis said: “It’s always been the intention to have Amy come to play T In The Park after what happened last year.”

Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: “We didn’t want to put pressure on Amy but she felt really bad about pulling out and, if ever she needed reassurance about how the Scottish public felt about her, playing those two nights at the [Glasgow] Barrowlands really slammed it home.”

Winehouse joins acts including Kings of Leon, REM, Rage Against The Machine, The Verve, Kaiser Chiefs, The Pigeon Detectives and Primal Scream.

Amy Winehouse’s Dad Wonders “What If…”

Amy Winehouse’s father, Mitch, is taking the blame (or is it the credit?) for his daughter’s less-than-happy music, saying the troubled singer channeled her rage about his marriage-ending affair into her songs.

But he stopped short of taking responsibility for Winehouse’s drug problems: “It is easy for me to say it is my fault, and that had I been a better parent this would not have happened. But who knows whether it would or not?”

You’re right, Mitch. It’s hard to know whether a confidence-shattering affair that splits your family apart during your daughter’s most impressionable years could possibly have influenced her to seek solace in those all-understanding drugs.

Mitch Winehouse: I ruined Amy’s childhood

Amy Winehouse’s father believes his extra-marital affair ruined her childhood.

Mitch Winehouse admits he made his daughter’s early life difficult by cheating on her mother Janis for eight years, before leaving the family home to live with his mistress Jane in 1993.

He said: “The affair was in the open and the children used to call Jane ‘Daddy’s work wife’. I did not leave home until Amy was ten so the situation occurred for eight or nine years before I left home. It was difficult.

“I didn’t realise what effect my behaviour had on her until I heard her song What Is It About Men, with the line ‘All the s–t my mother went through’, which obviously referred to me.”

However, Mitch - who married Jane in 1996 - insists he is not to blame for his daughter’s current battle with drink and drugs, and even thinks his affair inspired her talent.

He revealed to BBC TV show One Life: Rock Star Parents: “She couldn’t articulate what was wrong in words but she certainly did with her music.

“What she is going through at the moment is terrible. She could die horribly, but that cannot happen.

O’Grady slams “vile” Paris Hilton

Paul O’Grady has described Paris Hilton as “vile” and claimed she looks like a whippet.

The TV presenter said that he felt sorry for troubled stars like Amy Winehouse and Britney Spears, but wouldn’t extend his sympathy to the US socialite.

He told Heat: “Then there’s Paris Hilton. Vile. What is she? She’s repulsive. She looks like a whippet.”

On the subject of Amy Winehouse, O’Grady commented: “She’s only young. You just want to say to her, ‘Lay off it all, love’. I’d love to get hold of her and sit her down.”

When asked about his dream chat show guests, he revealed that singer Michael Bublé would be on the top of his list because he “oozes” sex appeal.

Jessica Alba craving French ham and cheese sandwiches

American actress and mom-to-be Jessica Alba has developed a taste for French ham and cheese sandwiches and has been gorging on them while on her trip to Paris. The pregnant celebrity has been making European press rounds for her movie “The Eye” and had recently done some antiquing in the City of Light.

Jotted down in her MySpace blog on March 4 that she “can’t wait to get home and rest”, she furthermore has revealed to have been having food cravings while abroad. She claimed on her blog that she’s addicted to French ham and cheese sandwiches.

“Every day I have eaten ham and cheese sandwiches, I can’t get enough of them,” Alba wrote. “Wish they had these back in the states, the bread is amazing. My tummy is getting bigger by the second and the little one must like the food too because it is moving and kicking like crazy. ”

What’s more Alba also stated that she is ready to return back home after the whirlwind trip, which included some sightseeing and an Amy Winehouse concert.

“Last trip!Went to the Lanvan show and the Rodin museum in Paris…amazing. Also saw Amy Whinehouse perform. She has such an incredible voice. She’s definitely a throwback…reminiscent of Ella. I am currently getting my makeup done to go to the premiere of my movie. Can’t wait to get home and rest,” she concluded.
