In an interview about “Battle in Seattle,” a much anticipated low-budget film about the 1999 World Trade Organization riots, Theron and Henderson talked about the movie like they were ready to go to bed. At one point, Theron had to ask Henderson what the movie was about.

“It’s, um, it’s based on real events that took place in Seattle in ‘99 … right?”

Charlize Theron movie shot here out on big screen — but not here

When he saw the movie Sleepwalking, a silver-screen depiction of Moose Jaw was more interesting to city native Ken Mitchell than his own face briefly crossing the big screen.
“The photography in it is really very good,” he said. “What’s most interesting about it is the way that they shoot Moose Jaw.
“It’s a bleak view of the landscape here because it’s a winter scene, but you certainly recognize it,” added Mitchell, who saw the movie in Regina recently.
He said there are several shots of the railyards and distinguishable landmarks like the old Robin Hood flour building.

The -starrer “Battle in Seattle” will open the 34th Seattle International Film Festival, which runs from May 22 to June 15 in Seattle.

The film, which centers around the anti-globalization protests against the World Trade Organization in Seattle in 1999, also stars Martin Henderson, Woody Harrelson and Channing Tatum and is the directorial debut of actor Stuart Townsend.

We’re no second Hollywood. We actually get excited when the stars come to town, even if did snub us for Miami last month and needed a green screen to be shot with the Fremont Troll.
