Wearing her trademark oversized celebrity shades,  Elisha Cuthbert checked in for an American Airlines first class flight out of LAX on Tuesday (April 2).

Even though it was an early morning departure, the Girl Next Door actress still was looking as good as ever.

Meanwhile, in related news, Elisha’s sportsman ex-boyfriend Sean Avery has blasted reports connecting him to the prostitution scandal that brought down New York Governor Eliot Spitzer as “false and defamatory.”

Elisha Cuthbert returns to TV in CBS drama

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Former “24″ heroine Elisha Cuthbert is returning to television as the female lead in CBS’ drama pilot “Ny-Lon.”

Cuthbert will play a New York literacy teacher/record store clerk who embarks on a transatlantic romance with a London stock broker. The project is based on a British series starring Rashida Jones and Steven Moyer.

ELISHA CUTHBERT stripped down for a saucy shoot for US Maxim.

She’s previously gone on record saying she would never bare all in a movie, saying she would “like to keep some things to herself”.

Though LINDSAY LOHAN said the very same thing in 2005, before shedding the clobber for those naked MARILYN MONROE inspired pics last February.

Whether she’ll follow suit remains to be seen.

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 3/27/08 – Though she is best known for her big-screen appearances in movies like “The Girl Next Door” and “Old School,” comely Canadian Elisha Cuthbert is hoping to make a big splash on the small screen with a lead role in the CBS pilot “Ny-Lon.”

“Ny-Lon,” adapted from the short-lived 2004 British drama of nearly the same name (“NY-LON”), will follow the transatlantic romance between Cuthbert’s character, Edie Miller, a literacy teacher from New York, and her boyfriend, Michael Antonioni, a stock broker from London (hence the title of the series).

. . . because Elisha Cuthbert, who really, really will always be Jack Bauer’s daughter to me, has just landed herself a starring role in Ny-Lon, a CBS drama pilot.

Not to mention those “___ is the new ____” references . . .
. . . because Cuthbert is the new Rashida Jones. She’s playing the role of Edie, originated by Jones in the 2005 British version of the series.

Elisha Cuthbert cast on CBS romantic comedy

Jack Bauer’s daughter is trading in angst for romance. Actress Elisha Cuthbert has been cast on the CBS pilot Ny-Lon. That’s the one-hour romantic-drama-with-comedy based on the British series of the same name that aired on the Channel 4 TV in 2004 (only there it was called NY-LON; apparently the American version is initial cap only).

In Ny-Lon, Elisha plays Edie Miller, a free-spirited, New Yorker who works in a record store and also moonlights as a literacy teacher. On a trip to London, she meets a British stock broker, Michael. Their whirlwind romance leads to their deciding to try a cross-continental love affair. In the UK show, Rashida Jones, currently on Unhitched, but also well-known as Karen on The Office, played the role of Edie.

Elisha Cuthbert to Star in Ny-Lon

Elisha Cuthbert is heading back to the small screen, this time for CBS. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cuthbert has signed on to star as the lead of a one-hour pilot entitiled Ny-Lon. This is an adaptation of the British series NY-LON, and this new version also stars Caterina Scorsone and Johnny Whitworth.

The series centers on an across-the-pond romance between a New York teacher (Cuthbert) and a London stockbroker. Scorsone will play Edie’s roommate, a promiscuous rocker and Whitworth will play Edie’s ex-boyfriend.

Also cast in the ABC Studios-produced adaptation of the British series are Caterina Scorsone and Johnny Whitworth.

Additionally, Rachel Boston has landed a role on another CBS drama pilot, “Mythological Ex.”

“Ny-Lon” centers on Edie (Cuthbert), a New York literacy teacher/record store clerk, and Michael, a London stock broker, who embark on a cross-continental romance.

Scorsone (”1-800-Missing”) will play Edie’s roommate, a slutty, bohemian rocker. Whitworth (”CSI: Miami”) will play Edie’s rocker ex-boyfriend.
