Frankly, Fergie looks terrible. Sprawled out in the backseat with her hair on end and her make-up rubbed off, she looks nothing like her polished public persona.

But then who would in the small hours of the morning? Perhaps Prince William’s girlfriend Kate Middleton manages it but she is two decades younger than Fergie and is said to touch up her make-up before she leaves a late night club.

Fergie’s late night pictures, however, will have won her more friends than critics. The vast majority of women are likely to sympathise with another who is faced with deeply unflattering snatched photographs.

Prince William’s girlfriend Kate Middleton will not attend to Harry’s wings ceremony

Kate, who started dating the prince in late 2003, will stay away from William’s graduation ceremony at RAF Cranwell, in Lincolnshire, as part of a concerted effort to keep her out of the limelight for as long as possible.

A source told Britain’s Mail on Sunday newspaper: “Kate and William are very happy together and this is a mutual decision. She doesn’t want the attention on her and neither does William.”

Their decision is believed to have been influenced by the reaction to Kate’s presence at William’s passing-out parade at Sandhurst Military Academy in 2006.

London - A beaming Kate Middleton looked on as Britain’s Prince William Friday became a pilot of the Royal Air Force (RAF) as part of his current military career. Middleton’s re-emergence on the public stage immediately sparked fresh speculation that William, who will be 26 in June, could soon pop the question to his long-term girlfriend.

“It is certainly a very firm confirmation that they are back together again,” said the BBC’s royal correspondent, Nicholas Witchell.

The pair, who have known each other since university, broke up briefly a year ago and have since had an on-off relationship.

They recently went on a skiing holiday in Switzerland but Friday was the first time Kate took part in an official function at the side of the prince.

She was also present when William, a serving officer in the Household Cavalry regiment of the Blues and Royals, graduated from Sandhurst Military Academy in December, 2006.

Britain’s Prince William’s girlfriend Kate Middleton has been given her own bodyguard.

The 26-year-old brunette is not entitled to official security until she becomes engaged to William but has been assigned a Scotland Yard protection officer for the couple’s Swiss skiing holiday.

The decision to give Kate - who rekindled her romance with the future king last year after a brief split - a bodyguard was a precautionary measure and will not become a permanent arrangement.

However, sources say it is a significant step towards her becoming a full-time member of the royal family.

One said: “If Kate is being given her own bodyguard, it can’t be long before they announce their engagement.”

William and Kate arrived in Switzerland on Sunday (16.03.08) and have been pictured having fun on the slopes.

The couple, experienced skiers, rode a drag lift together in the morning and then made their way down the slopes separately.

If Prince William and his girlfriend Kate Middleton are trying to discourage talk of a future engagement, a week spent flirting in the Alps isn’t going to do the trick.

Middleton, 26, and William, 25, hit the slopes last week in the Swiss resort of Klosters – a favorite of the British royals and the place where the couple were first revealed to be seriously dating four years ago.

This year, Middleton looked more comfortable than ever in the royal fold as William’s father, Prince Charles, arrived at the resort on Thursday night and joined the pair skiing on Friday and Saturday. Middleton’s inclusion in family events adds fuel to speculation that William – second in line for the throne after his father – could one day make her his princess bride.
