Music Review: Leona Lewis - Spirit

May 14th, 2008 admin

Hayden Panettiere

I became an instant fan when I watched perform on X-Factor for the first time, and every one of her performances after that only made me a bigger fan. She’s definitely got the ‘X-Factor’, alright, with such a powerful voice which can also be so sweet and emotional that she’s moved me to tears more than once with her performances even while she amazed me with her skill.

I can honestly say I have never heard another singer who has the voice, talent, emotion, power, and control that has, and of course, I couldn’t get enough of her. I wanted to hear more from her, and I waited anxiously for the release of her debut album, Spirit. But before I managed to obtain a copy of her debut album, her first single, “Bleeding Love”, was already being played constantly on the radios. I must admit that I was disappointed when I heard it, because while it was a great song and a catchy one in its own right, it was not what I would have expected of someone of ’ ability.

Simon Cowell Fumes Over Leona Lewis Brit Snub

April 10th, 2008 admin

Leona Lewis

Music mogul Simon Cowell has slammed organisers of the Brit Awards for snubbing pop star , accusing them of snobbery over her reality TV show background.

Former X Factor winner Lewis was nominated in four categories at the London awards ceremony in February, but sensationally lost out on all gongs including British Female Solo Artist and British Single for her smash hit Bleeding Love, despite being the favourite to win.

Initially, Cowell admitted he was secretly pleased the star had missed out on the awards, because the snub would stop his pop protégé from developing an ego.

But now Cowell has hit out at the Brit Awards, claiming the U.K.’s top music ceremony does nothing to recognise home-grown talent.

He fumes: “I don’t like The Brits, they’re too sarcastic. They don’t represent what’s right in Britain at the moment.

Leona Lewis ‘Spirit’ Soars In Spots But Lacks Soul

April 10th, 2008 admin

Leona Lewis

Although she won the third season of Simon Cowell’s British TV talent competition “The X Factor,” doesn’t stand out much on her debut. In fact, if you blank for a moment on who you’re listening to, it may take a minute to remember that it’s Lewis. She sounds like plenty of other latter-day R&B divas: There’s a little , a bit of , maybe some , even a hint of Whitney Houston.

What there’s not is a lot of originality.
