Mariah Carey says she’s “a freakin’ prude”

She wears bra tops and hot pants on stage but Mariah Carey says she is a prude and “buttoned-up” girl.

The 37-year-old singer revealed her shyness about sex by saying: “I’m Mary Poppins: I’m what the buttoned-up girls are supposed to be.”

In an interview with US magazine, Allure, Carey says that she is “a freakin’ prude.”

Mariah also says she is a child at heart who once let actress Lindsay Lohan and singer Sean Lennon hold a jam session in her Mermaid Room.

Well known for her sexy image, Carey told the April issue of Allure she has a low self-esteem and is looking for true love.

The singer says: “I’ve always had really low self-esteem and I still do.

“What’s weird about that is being onstage and the love that you get, and the adoration that you feel, from your real fans.

Mariah Carey doesn’t trust men

Mariah Carey says she finds it difficult to form new relationships because she is paranoid potential lovers will post compromising footage of her on the internet.

The 37-year-old singer said: “We live in a world of extremely high technology so it is difficult for me to trust anybody.”

On the song Touch My Body, from her new album E=MC2, Mariah vows to get even with anyone who posts personal footage of her on video sharing website YouTube.

She sings: “If there’s a camera up in here then I’d best not catch this flick on YouTube, ‘cos if you run your mouth and brag about this secret rendezvous I will hunt you down.”

Mariah Carey: ‘I’ve Always Had Low Self-Esteem’

Mariah Carey is in on the joke that some people think she’s not much more than a bouncy bombshell.

“It’s a dichotomy, I understand,” the hard-working Grammy winner, 37, tells Allure magazine for its April issue. “I understand that people think I am a ditzy moron.”

Speaking in her Manhattan penthouse, which is described as looking like something out of Barbie’s Dream House, Carey says she continues to struggle with her confidence level.

The way this Bulgarian contestant managed to do so should truly enter TV comedy historic books. She covered Mariah Carey`s “Without You” into a special mixture of Bulgarian and English, calling her song “Ken Lee”, totally convinced this is the song`s name.

Mariah Carey was born in Long Island, New York on March 27, 1969. Her parents are Patricia Hickey (Irish-American) and Alfred Roy Carey (African-American/Venezuelan).
