Natalie Portman no longer tied to Wuthering Heights role

May 12th, 2008 admin

Natalie Portman
has “walked out” of new film Wuthering Heights.
The Hollywood actress has reportedly left movie bosses fuming after quitting her role as Cathy Earnshaw in the big screen adaptation of Emily Bronte’s classic 1847 novel, despite having “seduced” them into giving her the part.

A movie insider told Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper: “It’s fair to say we were seduced by her and we should have been on our guard.”

Portman is said to have made a concerted effort to convince director John Maybury and producers Ecosse Films and HanWay Films to give her the role of Cathy, even convincing them to allow her casting approval over the choice of actor to portray her character’s lover Heathcliff.

A new film sheds light on how sibling rivalry can turn your closest friend into your most hated foe, writes Deirdre Reynolds

She’s supposed to be your closest friend and confidante. Yet in reality, she’s often the biggest bitch you’ve ever met in your life.

The latest film to hit cinemas here shows how the harmless hair-pulling that goes on between young sisters across the world can degenerate into full-blown battle.

Based on the best-selling novel by Philippa Gregory, The Other Boleyn Girl charts one of the most explosive cases of sibling rivalry in history. It tells the tale of aristocratic sisters Anne and Mary Boleyn, who went to war over sex-mad monarch King Henry VIII in the 16th century. And the true story, starring and , reveals how women who are flung together by birth can wind up becoming bitter rivals rather than bosom buddies.

Natalie Portman Goes On The Atkins Diet

April 2nd, 2008 admin

Natalie Portman

In a shocking turn of events, long-time vegetarian and recent vegan has given up Tofurkey and gone back to the real stuff.

Earlier this week, on a popular late night talk show, Natalie announced that she’s “through with all this stupid vegetarian stuff”, explaining, “I just woke up one morning really craving red meat.”  A few days later she had made the switch and was even photographed in a popular West Hollywood burger joint wearing an “Atkins Addict” t-shirt. When asked if her shirt was a joke, Portman snapped back, “Nothing Dr. Atkins has ever done is a joke. He and I both strongly believe that a protein-rich, high fat diet is the key to good health.”

Fellow actor and vegan mentor Tobey Maguire could not be reached for comment, but friends close to the actor say that he is “inconsolable” and “barely able to get out of bed.”

IMDb Mini Biography By: Frankie Smith

Mini Biography

Keira Christina Knightley was born in the South London suburb of Richmond on March 26th 1985. She is the daughter of actor Will Knightley and actress turned playwright Sharman Macdonald. An older brother, Caleb, was born in 1979. Brought up immersed in the acting profession from both sides - writing and performing - it is little wonder that the young Keira asked for her own agent at the age of three. She was granted one at the age of six and performed in her first TV role as Little Girl in “Screen One: Royal Celebration (#5.4)” (1993), aged seven. It was discovered at an early age that Keira had severe difficulties in reading and writing. She was not officially dyslexic as she never sat the formal tests required of the British Dyslexia Association. Instead she worked incredibly hard, encouraged by her family, until the problem had been overcome by her early teens.

Her first multi-scene performance came in A Village Affair (1995) (TV), an adaptation of the lesbian love story by Joanna Trollope. This was followed by small parts in British crime series “The Bill” (1984), an exiled German princess in The Treasure Seekers (1996) (TV) and a much more substantial role as the young Judith Dunbar in Giles Foster’s adaptation of Rosamunde Pilcher’s novel Coming Home (1998) (TV), alongside Peter O’Toole, Penelope Keith and Joanna Lumley. The first time Keira’s name was mentioned around the world was when it was revealed (in a plot twist kept secret by director George Lucas) that she played ’s decoy Padme to Portman’s Amidala in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999).

It was several years before agreement was reached over which scenes featured Keira as the queen and which Natalie! Keira had no formal training as an actress and did it out of pure enjoyment. She went to an ordinary council-run school in nearby Teddington and had no idea what she wanted to do when she left. By now she was beginning to receive far more substantial roles and was starting to turn work down as one project and her schoolwork was enough to contend with. She reappeared on British television in 1999 as Rose Fleming in Alan Bleasdale’s faithful reworking of Charles Dickens’ “Oliver Twist” (1999) (mini), and travelled to Romania to film her first title role in Disney’s Princess of Thieves (2001) (TV) in which she played Robin Hood’s daughter Gwyn.

Keira’s first serious boyfriend was her Thieves co-star Del Synnott, and they later co-starred in Peter Hewitt’s ‘work of fart’ Thunderpants (2002). Nick Hamm’s dark thriller The Hole (2001) kept her busy during 2000, and featured her first nude scene (15 at the time, the film was not released until she was 16 years old).

Natalie Portman: Criticism Of Hillary Clinton Rooted In Sexism

March 9th, 2008 admin

needs to keep her day job, she’s a gifted actress but a lousy political pundit. It may not have been Hillary’s choice for her hubby to sleep with every bimbo within sniffing distance of the Oval Office, but it was her choice to be a doormat and stay married.

It’s not sexist to attack Hillary for falsely claiming that she has 35 years of experience. As First Lady she may have enjoyed tea and cookies with the spouses of foreign leaders, but that didn’t prepare her for the rigors of being commander-in-chief.
